I am from the refreshing smell of morning dew,

the coffee my mom drank in the morning
and a sports loving father.
From giggles with Dylan,
and daily riots with Cody.

I am from a dainty house,
that was decorated with pictures and quotes,
and where the smell of cinnamon candles linger.
From a big backyard I could turn into a kingdom,
imagining the grass was lava that couldn’t be touched,
and jumping from swing to swing to get a cross.

I am from clumsiness,
scratches and bruises on my elbows and knees,
from blisters on my hands and pain in my back,
from “be careful, Bri!”
and “don’t forget the sunscreen.”

I am from sunny summer days,
the smell of cotton candy, and fresh fries at the fair.
From my stomach turning as I looked up at the roller coaster,
and the late night stops at Cracker Barrel.
From spending days at my dad’s work,
and falling asleep on the couch.

I am from Jeff and Traci,
a mom who loves coffee,
and a dad who loves the Bears,
and two brothers,
a troublemaker and neat freak.
