Where I'm From
I am from an affluent community,
filled with spoiled little (majority white) kids.
  I am from a tight-knit family,
where the oldest is the nucleus.
I am from frequent fancy family dinners
to (more enjoyable) family vacations during school breaks.
  I am from falling lamps,
in which the scars are still seen today.
I am from sunny lake days
after dripping sweat profusely during baseball games.
I am from Grandma’s Rhubarb bread,
  to a hatred of cats,
to, what seemed to be ancient, German candy caramels from Oma and Opa.
I am from chilly fall nights
trying to finish a 12 page business report due the next day
  after sweaty football practices.
I am from yearly visits to the football state championship at Camp Randall,
which comes with memories of joy and laughter
  with recently forged brothers.
  I am from upsets,
where the team who is upset is us
(the emptiest feeling in the world.)
  I am from late nights
  consisting of acute workouts,
which is the best stress reliever in the world.
I am from an affluent community,
where I am blessed for my surroundings
but always striving to have a superior life than those around me.
