I am from days on Lake Keesus
under the sun.
From that first time water skiing
to learning a 360, board garb and air raley
on the wakeboard.
I am from falling on the water
just to get up and try again.
I’m from getting up at 7 o’clock to ski
on the glass water.

I am from doing my own work on my car
rather than paying someone else to.
From building two cars, wakeskate and longboard.
I am from learning from my mistakes,
from work, pain and success.
I am from working until midnight
to go to school at 7:30 AM.

I am from Dad’s side of the family
From having Christmas at my grandparents’ house.
I am from staying up to see what Santa brought.
From going to the cabin on Christmas break,
I am from snowmobiling and ice fishing.

I am from these things
that made me who I am
and who I will become in the future.
