How ever did I find
This sickness in my mind?
The monster that lives inside.
For I am it,
And it is me;
There is no distinction
In this reality.
Kill the darkness,
Kill me.
Whatever happens to it,
Happens to me.

I hope the lesson readers take from my poem is that mental illness, especially depression, isn't something people can just "get over". It is a daily struggle to find the motivation to continue on, and I hope people can recognize this and help anyone they know who is struggling.
