Expectations
They Expect us to be perfect
They expect us to be kind
but how can we be perfect
if they’re the ones we stand behind?
They want us to be beautiful
more on the outside than in
they expect us to be tall and graceful
with perfect porcelain skin
They judge us by our size
they judge us by our names
they tell us that we’re different
yet they want us to be the same
They push us to work hard
but all we need is a guiding hand
because later on in life
we’ll be the ones in command
Because of them, as we get taller
our love starts to shrink
our hearts get smaller
we only work to earn dollars
and we become scared of what they think
They expect us to be perfect
they want us to be beautiful
they push us to work hard
but in the end
what they want
is for us to be just
like them
