This is what it takes,
The early mornings,
Long, late nights,
Studying plays,
Watching highlights.
This is what it takes,
Lifting more than able,
Running more than before,
Legs aching beyond compare,
Pain unable to ignore.
This is what it takes,
Bloody knees,
And busted lips,
Tough teams,
championships.
This is what it takes,
Coaches screaming,
Thoughts of quitting,
Force yourself,
To committing.
This is what it takes,
Overtime games,
Can be hell on earth,
But with a family,
That’s what it’s worth.
