I love(d) you
I miss the days
when i refused to say it back.
It took a while to realize,
I was lying to myself,
but even longer to realize,
you were lying to me.
I thought there was strength in denial,
and you thought there was power in manipulation.
You loved me with with your body,
while you kept your feelings below the belt.
Loving you was suffocating on your lies,
the only oxygen was the sweet hymns of empty promises and future broken commitments.
I loved you,
blinded by who I thought you were.
