Coveted.

Waves discolor my skin, ribs crashed.
The lighthouse in my heart flashed
Once, twice, infinite times
Its beam hidden in the opacity of a kaleidoscope game.
How to begin to understand
Someone without a story or last name.

Phantasmal.
A gaunt, fictional love traced.
A deceitful valentine, seasons effaced
Once, twice, infinite times
By fools addicted to their heroin fairytale.
How to dream fearlessly,
Ignorant that the future will fail.

Wild.
Two travellers intersect at a lonely traffic light blinking.
I touch my collarbone; turn up the radio without thinking
Once, twice, infinite times
A permanent heartbeat waning in my rearview eye.
How to evade hope’s fatal charade,
How to say goodbye.
