Flannels and Floral Prints
I know now that nothing means nothing.
I just thought maybe nothing
Could mean something more
Than your car parked outside on the days that you liked
As I sat inside asking myself why.
Nothing means nothing more than
Your shirt in my hands and my mouth on yours
As my mind closes the door and never returns.
I know now that nothing means never.
I just wish that when you left
You hadn’t taken my common sense with you,
Seemingly gone forever.
Nothing meant something to me:
A girl with a dream of having more than she had,
Being more than she was.
The girl knew nothing but saw something
In the eyes that saw her.
Nothing means nothing
But she thought it could mean something
And now she lives for anything.
