there's always another one
waiting patiently in line

(it seems to stretch on and on like elastic wrapped round the moon

until tomorrow doesn't come
and you're left alone
a frayed ribbon blowing in

a listless breeze
the words unsaid hanging heavy
in your lungs)

a tomorrow is useless
unless it drips between your fingers
unless you lose it in today

because todays are dangerous
and tomorrows
are nevers in disguise
