Frozen

I lay there frozen from the news,
we new this would happen
just not so soon.
Numb from head to toe
I wondered if I would feel it if I was shot.
Little did I know it would remain like this for weeks,
my life had been full of empty promises
eventually turned into broken ones,
but things quickly changed.
People around me found new acquaintances,
Soon it was just me against the world and
all that was left to do was sit and wonder
If things will things ever turn around for me?
Eventually they did.
