The chains lengthen
The useless text flashes red
Stating that the many dead-
Martyrs of a worthy cause-
Are treated like a jester’s flaws.
No one wishes to see truth
In taking life within their youth.
Why do we lie in cyberspace?
Reposts are only ‘just in case’.
Attention now is all they seek,
Showing their self-pride is weak.
As if these chains will save a life,
Mocking souls who know true strife.
Trigger words bring only pain
And here we thought this site was sane.

This was inspired by the issue of online chains that state things such as "I'm thinking of commiting suicide-comment if you would stop me- repost if you really mean it". It makes my blood boil because people like that are just doing it for attention and have no respect for people who truly deal with thoughts of suicide. It shows all they have is a weak self-esteem. Especially teens need to know that these suicide reblog chains are not the answer, and there are many suicide Hotlines that can truly help. Don't rely on the internet for a home cure to a mental problem.
