He thinks the clouds follow us, but

little does he know,

the sun trails our car as well

to wipe away the snow.

And often when the darkness falls

he thinks the day is through.

I hope someday he'll understand

that night brings all things new.

When I was as young as he

I harbored fears as well,

afraid to let the light shine through,

to feel love's warm swell.

So brother, lay your head to rest

and close your ocean eyes.

Realize much of your darkness

is happiness in disguise.
