"Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore" - Andre Gide

Emblazoned poinsettias burn
crimson red in their sentient flesh,
raveling together crooked slants
of glass that glimmer on ragged edges.
Droplets of dawn settle on each leaf,
iridescent pins of scattered, globular mirrors
feeding back distorted images of the present,
mere silhouettes recessing in frenetic patterns.
The uprooted poinsettias gasp for water,
chalked thirst lingering on their tongues,
running like the rivers on Titan,
rivulets of salt pulsing across fractured capillaries.

Exploring the outdoors and messages of nature has always been one of my passions, and I was struck by the realization that even the most seemingly mundane objects are capable of conveying a plethora of unspoken memories and eliciting passionate emotions.
