Dreams
Dreams are similar to butterflies,
In the sense that they fly away
Only after you catch a brief glimpse
of their wings in flight
Then they seemingly disappear.
But what are dreams?
What do they consist of?
A scientist will tell you
a dream is just a jumbled up
series of thoughts, images, and sensations
occurring in a person's mind during sleep.
(“Interesting things, aren’t they?”)
A romantic will tell you
Dreams are visions and wishes
Your heart yearns were true.
(“Magical things, aren’t they?”)
A pessimist once told me
That dreams are more like nightmares,
just taunts from the universe,
Just haunts, nothing but a curse.
(“Such fickle things...”)
But me?
What do I think dreams are?
I like to imagine dreams
are made up of stardust and affection,
Sweet memories and innovation.
With a pinch of Tinkerbell’s pixie dust
so I can just
