I Hope I'm Not

I think of you as a friend
And I enjoy being with you
But you don’t see me as more than
A lost little girl, struggling to fit in.
I blindly follow you,
Imagining that you think
of me as an equal.
I still have no idea why
you keep me around.
I’m annoying, naive,
And awkward.
Maybe you do like me.
Maybe my presence isn’t
A waste of space.
I sure hope it isn’t.
