Actually, the best life you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures....

A baby daughter was born
The parents were overjoyed
Days passed away in laughter
And happy tears down cheeks
Till a day came to interfere
In between the heaven of it all
The naming ceremony approached
Closer and creeping slowly until
Not a day remained to be lived
They ushered in some revered monks
The naming ceremony commenced
But the happy parents were not sure
Of the names thus suggested.
So they requested for a Sikh name
The elders we called in
They all decided upon kaur 'princess'
But that is known...
Replied the exasperated parents.
So they rushed to the pandit
With the Gita and kundli
O holy one! We seek your wisdom...
To which he gave his sought advice
But the name thus suggested
Seemed too askew for the face
They thanked him though and
Left for the mosque
The imam glared angrily at them
They had interrupted the namaz
Forgiveness was asked for
O wise one! We seek your council...
Pray what it is so important?
Our child has not been named yet!
You must suggest a name that fits
He gave a choice after much thinking
The couple contemplated...
Alas! It didn't seem right for their child
So they hurried off in impatience
To the nearest church that was seen
O father! We implore you
To organize a baptism for our child
The priest suggested a dozen names
But they only shook their heads
They decided to try their luck
At the synagogue which was only left
But they were dissatisfied with
The names suggested once again
They exited the holy place
With heavy hearts and sadness
Is our daughter never to have a name?
They looked at one another
In search of hope
But there was none to find
So they exhausted with failure
Slowly made their way home...
When suddenly they realised
The foolishness of it all
How we let our lives be determined
By our religion and faith
And to avoid a costly mistake
I was chosen to remain unnamed...
