When I am not there but nothing is

I look into an unfamiliar mirror
my knuckles turn white
from gripping the cold porcelain sink
I recognize the reflection as my own
but the image seems distorted
maybe because I look out of place
or maybe it’s because my eyes
are filled to the depth with hollow
and to the brim with tears
