I miss being a tree
when I was a tree, I stood strong felt comfortable in my skin
I could stand up tall and I never apologized for my the color of my leaves
I spread my branches letting them soak up all the sun they deserved

but I was cut down, stripped to nothing to serve somebody else’s needs
I can’t stand tall or love the color of my leaves, because that’s not even an option anymore
