" All who wander are not lost." J.R.R. Tolkien

She grew up in a world of ignorance

In a house of smiling masks

And burning red rooms

She grew up in a cage

Each heartache, each shipwreak, each fist of hatred

building the bars around her

They said she was a devil

That no heart could love her

That no soul would keep her

Isolated from a world

where beauty could not be found

Her face was plain

but her eyes held shattered tapestries of innocense

Broken by the dark side of the world

Destroyed by its hatred and blind eyes

that refused to look upon an orphan girl

She had seen the nightmares in a world of dreams

Told that not even God himself would love her

Broken down into bird-cage girl

with old lonely eyes and face that could not smile

Chained in a life of heartache and isolation

A caged bird

with broken wings

She longed for love to free her wings

Found it in the heart of a lonely man

A man that shared her eyes

A broken love

that could not be unbroken

Wild and pure

Two caged people

longing for freedom

Jane Eyre

Hearing his voice

Feeling his heart calling for hers

Knowing that while the world was falling apart around them

She had their undying love

That set them free.

The author's comments:

One of the most heartfelt novels I've ever read. Opened my eyes to the invisible despair and unimagined brokeness that exists in people's hearts.
