Of Remembering
I hope one day you wake up
kicked to the side
and your conscious will finally
remind you of who was there
from the very start
I hope you remember
whose fingers had wiped
your trickling tears
when you can barely
stammer a word
I hope you remember
whose arms were wrapped
around your fragile state
when all that remains
have crumbled to dust
I hope you remember
whose tongue has been
at the very least, comforting
when harsh words were offered
on a silver platter
And if, and when,
you finally remember
I hope you know,
like the back of your hand
where I can always be found
