SINGLE Anything

Went home miserable,
Was down in the dumps.
Was self-critical,
Nothing felt magical.

All achievements seemed useless,
Good things felt trivial.
Everyone’s life seemed better than mine,
On that day I was anything but fine.

Each day that was a bummer,
Winter, spring, or summer.
I had tied my joy to a SINGLE event,
In my emotion I had let it make a dent.

I had let what a person said,
Affect my confidence and cause dread.
A SINGLE person’s words,
Made me hide in the shrubs.

Just a SINGLE grade,
Just a SINGLE failure.
Had brought me down,
Turned my smile to a frown.

Life is much bigger friends,

Bigger than a SINGLE anything!

A single incident,

A single person, or a single achievement.

Life is big, Life is full, Life is strong,
Life gives many chances.
Use just a bit of grit,
Stop anything from controlling it.
