The Road Less Traveled

Old gas stations
filled with odd stains
and fresh, creased maps.
Tired eyes lost in
the fiery horizons
of dead desert skies.
Mixed feelings hid
behind the rear view mirror,
but still in hot pursuit.
Shabby motel rooms-
but only for the night-
with memories tangled in sheets.
They call it the road less traveled
because who would run
from love?
