Ice Cream
Impatiently waiting for the clock to strike,
each second I count begins to sound alike.
I dream of seeing my first ice cream truck,
buying every cone ‘til I’m all out of bucks.
For weeks I’ve been wishing for this one man to come,
and bring endless amounts of chocolate cookie crumb.
Finally I realize he won’t ever be here,
and the pure joy of other kids won’t ring my ear.
Until one day I searched out the window to find,
my dad driving home with a white truck right behind.
Coming closer, I hear the musical tune,
the Entertainer has saved this afternoon.
My dream has come true and I begin to drool,
my legs, I can feel, they are starting to fuel.
I sprint with excitement, get weak at the knees,
I set my money down, I’ll take a scoop of everything please.
