Stress
It lurks endlessly,
Forlorn as an old, unwanted toy.
Gazing at its long lost friend,
Who has attained a new, refined, version of it.
It can’t possibly bear to see
Others happy, and so it simply
Brings them down with along with it,
Into the dark abyss of its waters.
It keeps them there,
Forcing them to plead for mercy until
They can no longer breathe,
Effervescence hopelessly escaping their mouths.
It lets them up for just enough time to
Grasp onto a tiny bit of life, only to be dragged
Back down.
