Cold in the stand
Thinking about the turkey,
nice and crisp
Gravy flows down mashed potatoes
Buns rise, dough thick,
butter melts like ice
Red and purple cranberries,
bitter and sweet
Football game in the background,
Yelling at the tv
A bird’s cackle brings me back
cold in the stand
A mighty tom struts
adrenaline rushes
I line up the site
taking aim
hesitation at its greatest
I slowly pull the trigger
Dinner is served
