Teardrops hanging weightlessly
shining, twinkling, winking as if to say
you have endured a great many hours my friend,
enjoy the last of them

wind blowing as if it were
a force strong enough to sweep you away
off of your feet
and into that dark
where the fragile teardrops hang

feet planted firmly
gravity is the only thing keeping him down
his thoughts are adrift
high enough to touch those who  spin and twinkle

but he has
fallen prey to the dark -
with no flickering lamp or
teardrop of his own
to guide his thoughts
through this shining blanket
