Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. ~Anton Chekov

Day.
After.
Day.

She was falling- falling
In a swirling spire of red
As whispers around her head like
Circling vultures
With widespread wings
Searching for dead flesh that
Once bled
An unstained blood

Day.
After.
Day.

You lead her on a game of trust
that was only concealed lust
For she gave you her untouched blessed heart

Day.
After.
Day.

And I keep telling her
“I’ll be there for you”
But how can a thousand kind words compensate
For one word of hate
You grate someone’s heart?

Day.
After.
Day.

So she stands waiting
For someone to mend the pieces
Of herself
Back together
If anyone can fix
That unceasing, stirring confusion
That you pounded against her broken bleeding heart
That barely hangs onto life by a thread of shredded hope
Inside her crushed wounded chest.

Day.
After.
Day.

You led her in misdirection
Giving her an empty affection
That spread like a burning infection
Feeding her deception and
Putting her in isolation
To make her think it was mischaracterization
Like it was some sort of hallucination

To be fixed with a bottle of pills
A constant battle uphill
Tearing her will
To live
To pieces

Day.
After.
Day.

Until that night she finally put the bottle of pills to her head.
Her finger on the trigger
But nothing happened.

Day.
After.
Day.

And the tears that fell from her shattered eyes of starry pools
When you left her heart in
Shards of glass
Tears were warm yet bitter

But they hurt worse than the so called love
That finally broke you

Day.
After.
Day.

In the end
Like you did her.
