I am from the farmhouse in the country

I am not from a fenced in backyard in a neighborhood with a playset--
I am from a limitless backyard outside of town with snowmobiles and tractors
Adventurous and Daring,

I am not from spending the weekend in a hotel and swimming in a pool--
I am from going to Shawano, Wisconsin and swimming in Legend Lake
Rugged and Smiling,

I am not from going out to Applebee's for dinner in the summer--
I am from grilling fresh corn on the cob
Sweet and Savory,

I am not from sitting in the house playing video games until three in the morning--
  I am from spending my nights wrenching on trucks
Greasy and Determined,

I am not from wanting to work inside in a cubicle waiting to go home--
I am from working in the outdoors on a 95 degree summer day until the jobs done
Sweaty and Fatigued,

I am not from staying home all night watching TV--
I am from going out with friends and getting trucks muddy in a cornfield right after my dad said
“Have fun, but not too much fun!”
Wild and Excited,

I am not from being in a car with the A/C on and rap playing on the radio--
I am from windows wide open in the truck and country music all the way up on the radio
Independant and Loud,

I am not from skipping dinner with my family--
I am from going home to my family to eat dinner with them whenever possible
