The Last Prayer
I feel a lack of love
Something I was taught
Would be outpoured from above
So why
My God
Do you let us drown?
Take our prayers and cast them on the ground
I see my brothers
And sisters all alone
Drowning, sinking
Lost in their moans
And I try
To reach them
To throw a life vest their way
But I’m not strong enough to throw
From half a world away
So I turn to You
My God
With all my hopes and dreams
And offer to sacrifice them all
to silence the screams
Yet, my voice goes unheard
Among all your children’s cries
So, My God, I have one question
One last time
Are you letting us suffer?
And if so,
Why?
