Falling Class

Pulling the jaw to the center of the Earth. Weighs
eyes, to flap their wings toward the sky beside the stork, weighing a child
in vertical v’s,
desperately
easily
denying.

The first shock hits:
mothers and fathers pull their children to their waists.
The building sways
half a second to the right;
a power line falls slower, and a bolt of lightning is projected into the clouds.
We fight the inevitable!

I am fighting with axons.

Down
Swaying
pull.
Help
me,

my knee crashes into the desk.

And I fall back into the fog.
Miles of transparent sound and kilometers that must be remeasured
over and over and deeper I breathe
in winks.

I have lost count.
