The Butterfly Tree
December 23, 2015
The little girl
as still as a statue
looking up into the tree
poised as if she too
might fly away
The butterflies
float down
and land on
her
tasting her sweetness
and when they are done
they go back up the
tree
The little girl stays there
untill
She is sure they aren’t coming
back down
then she skips off
leaving me to wonder
why
the little girl paused at the butterfly tree
