Fingers intertwined in the soggy grass,
The lovers gazed up at the stars.
They laughed and whispered and kissed and gasped,
As they spotted Venus,Mercury,Mars.

They looked into each other's eyes,
And felt a binding connection of the soul.
Their love could never reach a dismal demise,
It felt as  infinite as a blazing black hole.

But as they gazed beyond their earthly home,
She felt a surge of something cold.
She scolded her mind for deciding to roam,
Into thoughts so foreign and so bold.

Here, underneath her lovers arm,
A thought crossed that was strange and unknown.
Here, in the abyss of her perfect romance,
She knew she was completely alone.

All of the memories, the laughter, the love,
She knew it would never suffice.
The laws of nature, governing from above,
Their fates were not so nice.

She could breathe in his air, kiss his lips,
Sing him sweet songs along an endless drive.
He would kiss her back, take her on trips,
But their love would never survive.

And she knew this in her mind, she knew it in her heart,
That, in the end, everyone is alone.
Though transfixed on what seemed like a work of art,
She knew his soul would never be her own.
