The Colors of my Wings
I want to work
to heal
to love
I want to wrap up all the hurt in this world
And hide it underneath my wings
I want the colors of my wings
to keep men from going to war
to feed the hungry children
with their bright beautiful colors
When I flap my wings
I’ll blow away
anger and hatred
I’ll teach boys and girls
who have forgotten how to fly
I’ll teach them how to draw
Pollen from the roses
and I’ll remind them
to watch out for the thorns
I’ll get the caterpillars
out of their cocoons
and remind
other butterflies
that they were once there too
I want to wrap up everyone
in the colors of my wings
and tell them they are
Loved
