I am from a country of cheap labor and factories,
From a communist nation and ancient history
The street vendors bellowing, to the bustling cities
A giant landmass of resources and people
Immigrating all around the world to work
I am from a country hidden under a mask of pollution,
From the smog-filled streets to the colossal factories
Safety remains a secondary concern
The aroma of coal and sweat linger in the air
Beautiful land slowly becoming modernized or destroyed
I am from a population of 1.3 billion
From an administration that controls its people through fear
Corruption and fraud seep from all of the nation’s offices
Buildings loom over the horizon from coast to coast
The west to the east
Protected by a massive wall
I am from rice fields and fish markets,
From the powerhouse that owns countries through crippling debt
Ancient landmarks hold the sky up high
The land where I grew up and lived
I endured the hardships of China and thrived
