Life is related to a semicolon; a semicolon represents a sentence that could have ended, but did not.

My raw hands are gripping at your throat,

While you experience a blistering spasm.

The room seems to grow somber,

While your eyes begin to blur.

The torrent sweeping down your face

Are the endeavors you have conquered

To endure my sensation.

Blood, sweat, and tears

Are never enough to preserve my sanity.

I dig and gouge and sift, until you become

Immortalized by my domination.

My years of consistent grown within you

Have me accustomed to your behaviors.

I vowed to you that day,

I would never depart my inert back on you.

The shoulder you currently weep on,

Could easily be mine,

If you decide to do so.

However, I surely don't grant you a decision.

The expedition of your lifestyle choices

Have me bound to your unfathomable mistakes.

I am with you always;

I presume you prefer it that way.

You shout and scream into a void,

Which I have closed off for you long ago.

The incorruptible chains, securing the immobile door,

Were your only escape.

Now you adore my presence, crave it even,

And you are the one who locked the chain

To encapture your life (past, present, and future)

Into this unimaginably hellish nightmare.

Do you know who I am?

Oh, you do not?

I am your addiction.
