The Crash
There,
Floating in the water,
Was the yellow of the
Beach.
The flat sand,
Pushed down with the waves,
Crawled up to my ankes,
Up my boots.
Eventually,
Cradling the weight of
My heart,
A wave pushed strength
Into me.
I stared at the child,
And cradled it,
Hoping it was
Almost there,
Almost afloat.
