Shows itself
Through small things
A simple question
“Are you okay?”
A shared meal
When one is lacking.
A smile, 
Across a crowded space:
Humor
Just ours.
Or laughing at nothing
Eye contact
Is all it takes.
A proffered earbud,
Extending between.
Subtle signs,
Known just to us.
Caring is
Connecting.
