The Road
I walked down a lonely winding road,
The tide was high, the wind was cold,
And through the misty haze I saw
The end of the end, the broken sign,
But so far away, too far to reach.
I continued down the lonely winding road,
Life was sharp, life was cold,
The sky was dark, the way was twisting,
And no one to help me through.
The winding road was unrelenting,
But now not so lonely,
For now a soul beside me,
To weather twists and turns.
But as the end of Road drew near,
We bade each good bye,
We'd walked cross fire and cream alike
To see the edge of "nevermore."
And at the end of the end we stepped across,
The broken wooden sign,
Back to the beginning,
To walk the road again.
