As the day dies
Monsters and angels take their first breath.
A waxy moon briefly leads them
Away from the looming darkness.
Chained lovers break free,
Throwing rocks
To shatter the window keeping them apart
Sneaking out to sneak a kiss.
Creatures escape reality to a mystical world
Where no one ever says good-


The author's comments:

Inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, this poem embodies the story of their forbidden love as well as my interpretation of the scenery surrounding their time together.
