1,2,3 Go! The green light inside,
seconds feel like minutes,
as I sprint down the baseline,
who knew what was coming,
as I approached to slide,
the turf was flying,
worst nightmares have come alive

Two teeth,
lost in the tire shreds,
all eyes on me,
everyone turned their heads,
“AHH” I cried,
reality kicked in

Trapped in the softball dome,
all I could do was cringe
I remember the ER doc saying hop on up,
3 stitches … 2 missing teeth …
I couldn’t drink out of a cup

Thank goodness it was December,
so I could sit on Santa’s lap,
I can ask for some new front teeth
I did,
Imagine that

This poem is truly a reflection of one of the scariest days in my life. It has taught me more about myself, the people around my and the strength we hold. I have told this story many times but nothing quite like this. I hope you enjoy it.
