Perhaps it was the way
your eyes were full of hope,
when mine was filled to the brim
with tears just waiting to drip.

Or maybe it was the way
you would hold my hand firmly,
while mine was shaking
of anxiety and despair.

Or probably it was the way
you had your arms around my shoulders,
when my body was a mess of flaws
and all I could do was rest in the crook of your neck.

Was that why,
even after all the disasters
you have put me through,
you still had my entire heart in your hands?

Or was it because
as days turned to months,
I still can’t get rid of your cheeky grin
and lopsided smirk from my mind?

You had marked your presence
when you first arrived,
and now when you are leaving
you left a scar so deep-

It has been years,
and I am still bleeding.
