The butterfly that tried to kiss your arm
Got swatted away as you opened the door.
Your friend got a lifeless ‘hi’ when they waved at you in the store.
“It’s not their fault”, you think as they ask you how you are-
You don’t know.
Thoughts of adventure flash in your mind,
You wish to be somewhere else-
Sailing an ocean,
Flying to Europe
Or walking the streets of a new city.
Your desire to get away is an understatement,
You need to cliff jump into a new, more exciting life.
If only you could get that passport, buy your happiness,
And hold your ticket to adventure-
Your dream would be just a journey away.
