Can you hear me
All of us have
two hands to touch and feel,
two eyes to see and observe,
two nostrils to smell and inhale,
two ears to hear and listen,
but only
one
mouth.
Only one mouth to speak.
To whimper or wonder,
To screech or sing,
To gasp or growl,
To mummer or mutter,
We waste our words at lightning speed.
We waste our words
with no thought at all.
Chitter chatter chitter chatter.
The yammer becomes forgotten garbage
within seconds of leaving our lips.
We never even think about
the effects our words
can have on others.
Words can help.
Spoken with a sincere smile,
they can be magical incantations
that cure dejection and despondency

But not for me.
I am nobody.
I have no mouth.
I have no voice.
It is as if
I have eternal laryngitis.
My words become dust,
or maybe they always have been.
Words can hurt.
Whispered rumors and gossip behind my back,
they stealthily sneak
their way into my ears,
attack my mind with a thousand knives
::loser/stupid/fat/weird/creep/

If I say my words,
but no one wants to hear,
did I
ever make
a
sound
