Aches
There’s an ache that swells up inside,
a pain yearning to go away but it won’t.
The desire for something overrides all other
emotions and thoughts,
to the point of no return, where
there is no wrong or right--only desire.
It hurts when you see the thing
you want most, so close but you can
never reach it.
It’s within your grasp and the ache
takes control pushing you to want it more.
With every fiber of your being you
try to win what you want,
but somehow it is always just one touch out your reach,
creating feelings of disappointment but
never failing to leave behind the lustrous ache for it.
