Coaches command perfection,
Perfection like a supermodel on a front cover,
They crave the quickest, tallest, most driven athlete to discover.
Parents are yelling, and kids are cheering,
Yet all you can think about is the fear of disappearing.
You cry, you sweat, you scream,
You can’t imagine life without living your dream.
Never-ending games filled with rebounds, steals, and blocks,
Aching muscles, purple bruises, and endless visits to the doc.
But if you mess up and throw it away,
All your dreams and hard work vanish like the sun on a rainy day.
No.
That is not an option.
I will not give up; I will not break down,
I will do everything it takes to get that crown
I will jump so high I will touch the sky,
I will run so fast that I can almost fly,
I will keep going no matter what,
I will not stop for anyone.
I will not give up, I will not quit,
I will work so hard, you can bet on it.
I will be remembered, I will be known,
I’ll inspire young girls who have a dream of their own.
And in the near future you can Google my name,
I will, with all I have, work hard enough to be in the hall of fame.
