As soon as I turned sixteen it began
Everything I loathed went hand in hand
I had to start studying for the SATs
On top of all the work my teachers gave to me
The reading, the writing, and especially the math
Began to fill me with an enormous wrath
I was so burned out; I needed school to end
For the rest of the year, I may just not attend
Even during the summer, all my days are intertwined
By the SATs, the ACTs, and summer reading combined
I swear to God if I turn another page
My hair’s going to turn grey due to old age
Every single one of my vacation days headlined
With a book or test making me go out of my mind
If I fill in another circle or write one more word
Ugh, I can’t think that way or my goals will be deferred
But still, maybe just one more complaint
If after all this I’m not sipping Piña Coladas at Harvard, I’ll become unrestraint
