Paucity of Slumber

Several experience a lack of slumber,
Causing around their eyes to begin to turn umber.
One may try to cover their exhaustion with make-up,
Or drink more coffee just to perk up.
The constant rubbing of the eyes throughout the day,
Is a way one attempts to rub the sleepiness away.
Yet it does not go away so easily,
It sticks to one making them appear grizzly.
Fussing and fighting through the yawning,
Making it difficult for one to continue fawning.
Weak and weary from sleepiness one must push,
To make it through the day while feeling like mush.
As sleepiness weights down on one more and more,
Just the thought of walking seems like a chore.
Daily communication from one’s peers,
Comes to be just as unbearable as high pitch screeching to one’s ears.
Attempting to remain positive and cheery,
Becomes a difficult task to one who is bleary.
Lack of sleep is a killer that goes discreet,
Knocking people down just as a game of skeet.

What inspired me to write this peice was the small amounts of sleep I recieve due to old adversities I have dealt with yet still affect me.
