Reprobate
When the sun rises and splinters of gold litter the sky
All I can imagine are the gold specks that dust your eyes
I don’t mean to sound trite
You are dulcet and wonderful and inspire what I write
When we’re together, we’re laconic
But I have much to say; it’s ironic
You know how I feel, and you feel the same
But you completely and definitively light my heart’s flame
My profligate cupidity grows in your presence
And my heart undulates with the rhythm of your essence
While your magnanimous soul continues to nurture me
My outlook on life has become less perfunctory
I hope you realize you’re a wonderful reprobate
You’ve stolen my heart; you’re the one I adulate
You helped me grow from my pusillanimous being
And develop from my churlish self; this feels so freeing
I hope I’ve improved your life the same; you’re venerable
And our time together will be forever memorable
Time is not infinite and my mind is askew
I muster all my courage now to say
I love you.
