Daddy where do you go in the middle of the night?

I can tell that you're not there, because

The record doesn't spin and crackle,

and there's an eerie emptyness that seeps inside me as my head spins instead of the record that should be.

Daddy why do you park on the side of the road when the suns already set and we both know,

that I'm tired

Where do you go as you leave me there,

"I'll be right back," you say, but don't return until the next day.

Daddy why do you take my love as the only kind you think you'll ever find?

Are my words and actions not enough to make you see that one day

Yes, one day, I will leave you behind?

Yes daddy we both know I'll come back

But what will you do until then?

Are one night stands and broken demands all that make you up?

Daddy you know I love you, and I you me

But when will the time come to make you see?

That the world is full of love and laughter,

but not just within you and me

Daddy you have to go

Daddy you have to leave

Daddy its time to leave me behind and go find yourself again,

because I'm afraid you've lost you and you're starting to pretend

You've always told me to be who I am,

and I think that your time is under demand

So go,

just go

and find your own hand

at the way things were before I was in command
